How engagements work

Sprint
Six to twelve weeks. A defined problem with a defined outcome. The operator comes in, runs the work, and leaves you with a holding answer — a strategy that has been tested, a function that has been reset, a decision that has been made and operationalized. Typical sprints: brand decline diagnostic, AI use case prioritization, supply chain resilience assessment, pre-exit value creation review, organizational capability and friction diagnostic.

Embedded
Three months to eighteen months. The operator sits inside the business as fractional or interim leadership — fractional COO, interim CSCO, fractional CMO, fractional CHRO, embedded operating partner, named integration lead. They show up to operating reviews. They write the memos. They make the calls. They own the outcome. Typical embedded engagements: post-acquisition integration, AI transformation, supply chain transformation, brand turnaround leadership, PE portfolio value creation, exit preparation.

Retainer
Ongoing strategic and operating support from a named operator, structured around the rhythm of your business — quarterly board prep, monthly operating reviews, on-call decision support during contested moments. Used most often by PE sponsors who want a senior operator inside a portfolio company without standing up a full embedded engagement.
How we engage commercially
Engagements are scoped to the work, not to a billable hour assumption. Sprints are fixed fee with defined deliverables. Embedded engagements are structured as fractional retainers with clear scope and outcome commitments. Retainers are monthly. Where a deal warrants it, particularly in PE value creation, we will discuss success-aligned components, structured to keep both sides honest about outcomes.
